Yikes. If you had told us here at Church Drunk way back when we started doing these in 2017 as a simple way to pray the Stations of the Cross (and then again in 2018 & 2019) that we’d still be doing them in the face of a global pandemic in 2020…and then again in the SAME PANDEMIC in 2021…and we’re still not out of the woods…and that this year’s edition might be the most stationey stations yet as the world sits perched on the brink of World War III…well, I’m not quite sure what our reply would have been. Regardless, it seems like a good thing that we’ve kept it going. The Stations of the Cross can be a slog, but that’s kind of the point. If a playlist gives us an alternate way to pray the stations, and/or pray them more more frequently, then we’ll just keep on listening and praying and posting, and someday things have to get better, right? Right? RIGHT? I mean, the tomb eventually stands empty, and there is rejoicing in the streets. But, as the stations remind us, we don’t get there without the grind. Eyes on the cross. One foot in front of the other. Prayers up.
If you Spotify, here’s a full playlist you can use. And we always love to hear what you think of our choices for our stations – these work for us, but maybe your selections would be different. Feel free to drop personal favorites or suggestions for improvement into the comments section. And if you like the concept, but hate the actual songs we’ve chosen, then by all means feel free to make your own Stations of the Cross playlist!
